St. Leopold Mandić Church

Leopold Mandić became a Capuchin friar and was ordained as a priest. He spent most of his life in Padua, Italy, where he served as a confessor and spiritual director. Despite suffering from physical ailments and being hunchbacked, he was known for his compassion, wisdom, and gentle demeanor. He dedicated long hours to hearing confessions and providing spiritual guidance to those in need.

St. Leopold Mandić was particularly known for his commitment to the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). He was able to empathize deeply with people's struggles and sins, offering them comfort and reconciliation with God. He became a beloved figure, and people from various backgrounds sought his counsel.

He died on July 30, 1942, and was canonized as a saint by Pope John Paul II on October 16, 1983. St. Leopold Mandić is considered a patron saint of confession, as well as of those suffering from cancer and other illnesses.
